Birding around Blago

Zeya River near Blagoveshchensk, Amur Oblast
As most of you will already know, the autumn season of the Amur Bird Project at Muraviovka Park was cancelled due to problems with documents caused by the lack of administrative staff. However, some of the ABP team members still found there way to Russia and will support the work of the Baikal Bird Ringing Station. One of them is Marc Bastardot from Switzerland. He came to Blagoveshchensk some days ago and took the chance to see some Amurian specialities before taking the train to Ulan-Ude at Lake Baikal.
The riparian forest at Zeya River and its oxbow lakes not far from town are full of migrant birds during this time of the year. Marc was lucky to see some nice species like Mandarin Duck, Japanese Sparrowhawk, Grey Nightjar and Yellow-rumped Flycatcher. Below you find a list of all his observations. Many thanks, Marc!

Danke, Marc!
